Aid Worker Security Database upgrade to Drupal 10

The Aid Worker Security Database (AWSD) is the leading global source of information on violence against humanitarian aid workers. To maintain the highest levels of security and performance, the AWSD platform required an upgrade from Drupal 9.5 to Drupal 10. iTech4Web expertly led this migration, tackling key challenges such as integrating CKEditor 5, replacing the deprecated Seven admin theme with Claro, and refactoring JavaScript to replace jQuery.once with the native Once library. Our team ensured a smooth transition while maintaining the platform’s integrity and user experience. Thanks to our work, AWSD can now operate on a fully modern, secure foundation, ready to support the evolving needs of the humanitarian sector.

Upgrade Humanitarian Outcomes’ Website from Drupal 7 to Drupal 11

iTech4Web partnered with Humanitarian Outcomes (HO), a research and advisory group for the humanitarian sector, to upgrade their Drupal 7 site to Drupal 11 ahead of the 2025 end-of-life deadline. More than just a technical upgrade, the project streamlined the management of HO’s Global Database of Humanitarian Organisations by redesigning the data entry process into a structured, AJAX-powered form that significantly improved efficiency. The iTech4Web team also optimized web infrastructure, reducing costs by threefold. Leveraging deep expertise in Drupal Core Migration API, the team delivered a smooth migration without custom workarounds and even contributed module patches back to the community. As an added value, iTech4Web addressed a long-standing issue in HO’s Digital Research Archive by replacing a CSV-based workflow with a direct Drupal integration—without increasing the project cost. The result: a future-proof, high-performing site with enhanced usability and maintainability for a small but impactful team.
